חברים יקרים,
בימים אלו אני מסיים שלב חשוב בפרויקט גדול בשם Another Planet (פלנטה אחרת). הפרויקט הינו פרויקט צילום שהתחיל בחודש אוגוסט 2019. בעקבות קריאת עדותו של הסופר יחיאל דינור במשפט אייכמן (1961) בו קרא לאושוויץ בשם "פלנטה אחרת". יצאתי לפולין וצילמתי ארבע מחנות השמדה: בלז'ץ, טרבלינקה, אושוויץ ומיידנק. הצילום נעשה בשימוש מצלמת 360 מעלות.
המשתמשים במצלמה של 360 מעלות נוהגים לכנות את הצילומים "פלנטות קטנות" ומכאן נולד אצלי הרעיון, לתעד את המקומות ולנסות לתת ביטוי בצילום למושג "פלנטה אחרת".
במשך החצי שנה האחרונה עיבדתי את הצילומים והכנתי תערוכה שתוצג במוזאון שבתוך אתר מחנה ההשמדה בלז'ץ, Belzec שבפולין (פתיחה ב 8 ביוני 2020). משם תנדוד התערוכה לעיר זאמוש, Zamos (באוקטובר 2020) ולוורוצלב, Wrocław (בנובמבר 2020).
בחודשים האחרונים הפקתי ספר צילומי התערוכה בשםAnother Planet בעזרת "נוצה הוצאה לאור" ועל כך תודות רבות ויעל וקרן, על המקצועיות והסבלנות (ספר הצילומים זמין למכירה באמזון). תודה לנינה דיוויס על העזרה הגדולה בתרגום תוכן הפרויקט לאנגלית.
בנוסף הקמתי אתר אינטרנט ודף פייסבוק לפרויקט, בהם צילומים, הסברים, ומידע על תערוכות קרובות וספרים לרכישה. כמו כן הפקתי יחד עם ידידי דניס קליינמן מלוס אנג'לס סרט וידאו קצר.

Dear Friends,
I am currently into the home stretch of a meaningful project, called “Another Planet”.
This photography project began in August 2019, after having read Yehiel Dinur’s (a.k.a. K. Tzetnik) testimony at the Eichmann trial (1961), wherein he referred to Auschwitz as “Another Planet”. I travelled to Poland, visited and photographed four death camps: Belzec, Treblinka, Auschwitz and Majdanek, using a 360 degree camera.
Users of this type of camera often refer to their photos as “little planets”, which led me to try and document those hellish places, giving graphic expression to the term “Another Planet”.
For the past half a year I’ve been working on those photos, and have produced an exhibition soon to be displayed in several locations in Poland: the museum inside the Belzec extermination camp (opening June 8th, 2020); then Zamosc (1 October 2020), and on to Wroclaw (November 2020).
In recent months I’ve produced the photography book Another Planet, with the aid of Notssa Publishing and its staff; thank you, Yael Ornan Garmi and Keren Amram, for your professionalism and patience. (The book is available on Amazon.com.) Thanks also to Nina Nina Rimon Davis for her involvement and for translating the relevant texts into English.
In addition, I’ve set up a web page and a Facebook page for this project, complete with photos, explanations, and information about upcoming exhibitions and related books. Also, you’ll find on YouTube a short video clip, in English, produced in collaboration with my Los Angeles friend Dennis Kleinman .
